SoL 25 Workbench

The SoL 25 Workbench is a free addon for SoL 25, which adds KDE and its tools, therefore providing a full featured desktop environment.

The SoL 25 Workbench tarball is currently being uploaded, and should be ready at around ~17:00 CEST. It can be obtained from all our mirrors soon. See Installing SoL 25 for a list of mirrors.

The filename of the tarball is SoL-25.00-workbench.tar, its filesize is 526909440 bytes and the MD5 sum is cef2ae02711ad0a8c73a6daa26472b06.

[edit] Installation

The installation is as simple as running these commands as root:

tar xf SoL-25.00-workbench.tar
cd SoL-25.00-workbench
./install.sh

This will install the SoL 25 Workbench in the directory /opt/desktop. Note that you will need 1.4 GB free disk space to install this addon.

To start KDE as default windowmanager, e.g. with xdm or entranced, (see Configuring Xorg for more information) simply edit the .xsession file in the home directory of the appropriate user. Make sure the current windowmanager will not be started (comment out/delete line) and add the contents of the script fireupkde.sh, which is included in the tarball. Or, if you haven't done any specific configuration in your .xsession file, just do (logged in as the appropriate user of course):

cp fireupkde.sh ~/.xsession

Then, you should be able to start KDE by logging in. (Maybe you will have to restart your window manager.)
